Foreign
buyers of real estate in Turkey has increased by 31.1% in the first half of
2018 compared to the same period in 2017 and reached 11,316 housing units.
According
to the Turkish Statistical institution, the property sales to foreigners in
June, increased by 7% and reached 2.060 units, where it was 1.926 in the same
month last year.
The
data showed that the percentage of foreigners buying properties between January
and June increased by 31.1% compared to the same period last year.
It
noted that foreigners bought 11,816 housing units during the mentioned period,
where 9.595 units bought the same period in 2017.
The
data showed that one-third of the properties sold to foreigners were owned by
Iraqi, Saudi and Iranian nationals.
Istanbul
ranked first among Turkish cities favored by foreigners buying properties, by
764 in June alone, followed by Antalya with 525, Bursa with 117, Yalova with 74
and Trabzon with 43 housing units.
In
the first half of this year, foreigners bought 3,999 housing units in Istanbul,
2,883 Antalya, 812 in Bursa, 558 in Yalova and 540 in Trabzon.
In
the first half of 2018, Iraqi citizens took first place in foreigners real
estate purchasing 1,197 housing units, while the Saudis ranked second with 89
thousand units, Iranians with 944, Russians with 815 and Afghans with 719.
Iraqis,
Saudis and Iranians represented for 34% of all foreigner real estate purchasing
in Turkey in the first six months of 2018.
