Turkish
Finance Minister Berat Albayrak has declared that the ministry is in the
process of submitting a proposal to the Turkish parliament to stop dealing in
US dollars in real estate selling, buying and renting transactions and within shopping
centers as well.
This
came in response to questions from journalists on his way home from France.
He
stressed that it is time for a strong country like Turkey to get rid of the
dollar, pointing out that the government is working intensively in this regard.
The
minister emphasized that steps will be taken to avoid dealing with the dollar
in the rental and sale of shops in shopping malls as soon as possible.
US-Turkish relations have been strained since US President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on imports of Turkish aluminum and steel, days after Washington imposed sanctions on Turkey's justice and interior ministers, citing the failure to release US priest Andrew Brunson.
